WORKSHOPS IN THE TRADITION OF VANDA SCARAVELLI

WORKSHOPS WITH MARGARET HARDMAN:

Margaret Hardman has been learning, practicing and teaching yoga for almost 25 years. For several years now Margaret has been deepening her study and practice with Diane Long and Sopie Hoare who had the privilege of working with the late Vanda Scaravelli, particularly Diane who was with her for 23 years. Vanda pioneered a way of working that focuses on the undoing of tension, inspiring an action in the body that is strong and kind. This inspires a practice that is free of strain, peeling away the layers of tightness imposed by a lifetime of doing. Only then may we experience the infinite within the practice that leads us to the state of freedom. For more info please visit Diane Long’s website

WORKSHOPS WITH JUNE DURKIN:

June Durkin began practicing yoga in 1970. In 1987 she completed the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher training. June developed Rusheens Yoga Centre in Kenmare. In 1994 June became inspired by John Stirk, the Osteopath and yoga teacher who introduced her to a fascinating approach to Yoga following the work of the late Vanda Scaravelli. She then underwent a 2 year training with Sophy Hoare and John Stirk in the UK. Diane Long who studied with Vanda for 23 year has also been a great inspiration, whose teachings continue to inspire in the tradition of Vanda. This approach to Yoga focuses not so much on a how to “do” yoga, from a perspective of style, technique or tailoring the body to fit into postures, but rather through an enquiring attitude, allowing the body to respond less mechanically, and more intuitively in ones practice. The principles at work in this approach are sensing the bodies need to respond to gravity and to breath regardless of whatever movement or position we make. My wish is to inspire others interested in yoga to experience this amazing revolutionary approach.
