About Your Teachers

ANGELA HANNON BSc, MISCP, BASIC

Angela Hannon qualified as a Pilates teacher in mat work and equipment in 2003 with Body Arts and Science(BASI). She graduated from UCD with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree in 1997 and has practised Physiotherapy in Ireland, England and Australia. She combines her physiotherapy skills and experience into her Pilates to create a modified, reflective and research-based style of Pilates.

She believes that Pilates can play a very beneficial role in many areas of health, balance, breath, flexibility, strength, posture, body awareness and stress reduction. From her own health experiences it played an integral role in maintaining a strong foundation and backbone, to cater for and manage issues that arose over the years.

In her classes everyone works at their own level of fitness with their own bodies and builds a very solid and intelligent awareness of their bodies, their issues and their abilities. Words like fulfilling, relaxing, challenging, invigorating have been used to describe her classes and the benefits of the exercise.

Recently she has done further studies with APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) in the area of clinical Pilates for spinal rehabilitation-which is a modified comprehensive programme for back pain. She is currently doing further study in neuro- pilates and normal movement with APPI and continues to do workshops in core-rehabilitation training. Angela works with people on an individual basis, in duet and group settings.

EVA WALSH

Eva first became seriously interested in yoga when she began studying yoga with Marianne Gabriel in 2001. She was so inspired by Marianne’s teachings that she joined the 2 year Contemporary Yoga Teacher Training course co-founded by Marianne. Eva views yoga as a bridge that connects mind and body, breath and movement. Her yoga classes include basic pranayama (breathing practises), asana and of course, relaxation!

FRANCESCA GIUSTI

After few years of very strict traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice, Francesca decided to train as a Yoga instructor at the Yoga Arts School in Byron Bay, Australia. She completed their teacher training in 2004 practicing a wide range of styles and yoga traditions, from the Satyananda school to the Vinyasa style as well as studying Pranayama (breathing techniques), Philosophy and different meditation techniques.

She has been committed to the teaching of yoga since then, keeping a daily practice and attending regular workshops with different teachers such as Tomas Zorzo, Luisa Sear, Lino Miele, Dena Kingsberg, Emil Wendel, Ski K. Patthabhi Jois, Manju Jois, Paul Dallaghan.

When she completed her second teacher training with David Curtis (Vinyasa Flow) in Ireland in 2007, she was drawn to a more serious practice of the Iyengar yoga method, and since then she has been attending classes with teachers in Ireland and Europe. Her own teaching is somehow influenced by this strong and precise system.

She completed 2 modules of “Somatic Movement Education” in the tradition of Thomas Hanna with Brian Siddartha Ingle.

She travelled to India between 2007 and 2008 where she spent four months in the South, practicing the physical and the devotional aspect of Yoga. She studied yoga with renowned teachers in Mysore (Yogacharya V. Venkatesha), Kerala and Goa (Sharat Arora, Brahmani Yoga, Purple Valley, Chuck Miller and Mary Ezraty). The India experience was so rich that inspired her to hold her classes with a sense of devotion towards the Inner space that dwells within each person, inviting a sense of Self inquiry and going beyond the obvious physicality of the Asanas.

Her more recent studies include a Yin Yoga inspired practice, where the elements of strong Vinyasa yoga combine with the stillness of poses held longer, to stimulate the physical and energetic body, in a balancing and powerful blend.

She understands body awareness as her Holistic professional background stems from being a Swedish Massage & Aromatherapist since 1997 (Cert. ITEC) and as a Reflexologist since 2000 (Cert. AOR & member of MIRIL).  Every yoga practice revels something new and her class participants are her biggest teachers!

IRENE SHEEHY

She was introduced to yoga as a teenager by her mother. In the mid 90’s she started to attend regular Iyengar yoga classes taught by Laurence O’Toole. The level of precision and attention to detail suited her, but also impressed her greatly. In time she was encouraged to teach a different pose in class each week.

Eventually she started her own classes; her students were mostly friends from college at the time. Her love for teaching grew and became a fully qualified Iyengar teacher in 2008. She teaches beginners and mixed ability classes for adults and teens. She likes to bring the element of fun into her classes but most of all she loves passing on the ancient knowledge of yoga and the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar to her students.

“Each asana has a beautiful shape, grace and elegance that bestows power and makes the practitioner as strong as a diamond and at the same time as soft as a flower”

B.K.S. Iyengar
